When Respect is no longer being served at your table, review your table.

We have all had moments where we have been hurt in life, be it in a romantic relationship, a friendship, family environment or a work environment.

The industry that I originally come from, is a very large industry, yet it is also very small, because everybody knows everybody. If you are going to speak ill of people behind their backs, your words will eventually reach that person, there is no ifs buts or maybes, it is a given.

I have had the unfortunate experience where I have been informed by numerous people about someone that has been speaking ill about me behind my back. At first I was so hurt, offended and yes, angry. The more I got to thinking about it however, the more I came to realise that if a person speaks poorly about you behind your back, that says more about their character than it does about yours. I have always been the type of person that I will say my say to your face, I will never speak poorly of someone if I am not prepared to say it directly to them.

If you are speaking poorly about a person’s business, that has made me realise that you must clearly be threatened, and I am doing something right in following the path that I have followed. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want anyone to feel threatened about me, I don’t want anyone to feel intimated about me, but when I hear the things that have been said, I can’t help but wonder what drives a person to feel the need to try and slander another person, unless they are feeling those exact things. I also want to state that when you are speaking these words, you are allowing another person to live “rent free” in your head, and in all honesty, who has time for that.

I have always been about uplifting others, supporting others in their businesses, and being there for anyone that has ever needed me. I am about woman empowerment, teen and youth empowerment, people empowerment, and I am not alone in this, many people and companies base their work on this. If you are a woman running a company and you want to be about empowering and uplifting other woman, then why is it that you as a woman, are slandering the name of another woman running a business just like you (not like yours) and putting her down. Surely that goes against everything that you state you are for? Woman empowerment and upliftment is not something that you can be on the fence about and practice the principles only when it suits you, it doesn’t work like that.

We need to be supporting each other, uplifting each other, giving each other hope and encouragement. We are living in very different and difficult times, and now more than ever, we should be standing together and navigating life and business together.

If you are going through something similar at the moment, or have in the past, I am sorry that someone has done that to you and made you feel like you are less than the wonderful person that you are. I hope you continue to be your own authentic, genuine self, and realise that the people that should be in your life, are the ones that are always there for you, always cheering you on, not the people that smile to your face and then act differently about you when you are not there. If respect is no longer being served at your table, you either need to leave that table, or ask the person that is disrespecting you at YOUR table, to please leave.

I have decided to take the knife out of my back, and use that knife to cut ties with the people that feel that this kind of behavior is acceptable.

Pray for those that need it, keep walking your path with your head held high, and never forget that the only time you should be looking down on another person, is if you are helping them up.
